Barnaby Hill is a trans* writer hailing from Yorkshire, UK, now based in the UNESCO City of Literature, Norwich, where he completed a BA in English Literature with Creative Writing and UEA’s prestigious prose masters in crime fiction writing. In 2025 he won the Little, Brown UEA Crime Award for his novel BABYDOLL.
Despite his interest in exploring sociological issues through the lens of crime fiction, his work tends to bleed outside of the boundaries of that genre, Barnaby’s true love is for the queer, the perverted and the hauntologies of our everyday. His poetry previously been published in publications such as The 6ress, Handwritten & Co. and Gypsophila magazine. Most recently, his gothic poem “Bramble King” was featured in Fang & Flower’s issue, The Veiled.
Barnaby also runs a Substack, Flea Market, where he attempts to make sense of life via literature and the artefacts of online culture.
